The Reiki Precepts
The Reiki Precepts or Principles are what Reiki is truly all about. Reiki isn’t so much about doing but about being. If you follow these principles each and every day, you become Reiki.
I prefer to use I will let go of worry and I will let go of anger rather than I will not worry and I will not be angry. I prefer these terms because it’s difficult in today’s world to not worry or become angry but if you can easily let go of these emotions when they pop up, you begin to experience them less and less.
I find students often become stuck on these two precepts when they tell themselves they will not worry or get angry…they feel like they are being set up to fail. By changing the wording to I will let go of, they feel like it’s something they can accomplish. I also use I choose to let go of worry and anger as this puts the power and responsibility of my emotions squarely in my hands.
